Default Regrowing Purple Minerals

Purple Minerals

-Mines exactly like blue minerals.

-When unmined for longer then 1 second begins to refill (same rate as depleted by 3 workers).

-When mined to 0 minerals does not disappear.




So Yellow minerals offer you a rapid boost to your economy. Purple minerals would be the opposite of yellow minerals allowing players to plan strategies to outlast the opponent.

Uh oh! Purple Tiberium!

I can see the races making something on top of existing minerals, which regenerates lost minerals (at cost of initial cost and time of setup), but natural regenerative minerals seem... copyrighted!

Ok looking past the fact that it has already been done in another game. Does it add to the starcraft experience?

Well, while I know that regenerating resources are not a C&C exclusive, (honestly, the C&C comparisons are really, really, really getting tiresome) I do agree that they just don't fit well with SC2. It would promote turtling, and from many reports, it seems that SC2 is becoming a more offensive based game.

Now one sec I say I say wait one second. A player tutling with one base still isn't going to win if I go take every other expo. They only get the advantage as the game goes into the late game.

Frankly, if you're playing as the Terran, all you need is some base of limitless minerals and you can last the entire game. And that doesn't mean they can't go get expansions either, and they could turtle on those as well. The point is that it gives an enormous advantage to defensively based players, like the Terran.

Couple things, tanks are less turtilific. Also if your not being offensive I can tech and expand and show up in back of your turtled base with cliff-walking colossi and phase prisms.

Turtling should be a viable strategy, the best offense is a good defense in some cases. However, this would lead to players rotating their mineral fields leaving one or two not in use to recharge and ensuring they have an infinite stream of minerals.

I totally agree. I know at first a lot of people were pissed about the super yellow minerals, but it actually encourages aggressive gameplay, which is good for RTS games.

No to regrowing minerals!

Agreed, no regrowing mineral. on the issue though, I once proposed that mineral patches get +50% minerals, but that you have to spend a little money and time (50/50 and 15 seconds) to get them, and only one worker could work a patch at any one time.

Won't do any good.
I'd rather mine all the time and expand rather than have half my workers sit idle for minutes at a time.
